Vollmer Launches New Innovations at Xylexpo 2012

At the Xylexpo Exhibition from May 8th to the 12th in Milan, Vollmer will be demonstrating a number of new innovations from Stand C18/D15 in Hall 3. The specialist grinding and eroding machine tool supplier will be highlighting its new CP200 grinding machine plus an automated polishing process for PCD cutting tips on the universal machine QXD200. Further machines on show will include the CL200 sharpening machine for TCT circular saws and the CA 100 machine for sharpening band saw blades.

The Vollmer QXD200 machine at Xylexpo will demonstrate its automated polishing process for machining PCD tips on cutting tools. The oscillating polishing is set up by automatic touch in a way that the PCD tip is only machined directly behind the cutting edge. This method considerably reduces the processing time and therefore saves production costs. The new QXD200 will enable PCD cutters of consistent quality to be produced in unmanned and automatic modes in high quantities.

Alongside the QXD, Vollmer will be introducing its innovative new CP200 grinding machine. Equipped with four CNC controlled grinding axes, multi-processor techniques and integrated software programs, the CP 200 is the machine of choice for automatic face and top machining of carbide-tipped circular saw blades with different diameters and tooth geometries. Intuitive operating facilitates the quick and easy use of these machines in grinding shops. The LCD display guides the operator graphically through the programs while the application process of one tool runs operator free to create a program for yet another tool.

Complementing the CP200 at Xylexpo, Vollmer will also be highlighting the benefits of its market leading CL200 sharpening machine for the hook and clearance surface grinding of TCT circular saws. As maximum flexibility and accuracy are becoming a pre-requisite in modern sharpening shops and saw mills, the new CL 200 provides this target group with a long awaited solution that is beyond the capabilities and productivity of any competitor offering.

The recipe for success with the CL 200 is its ability to conduct complete machining of the hook angle, clearance angle, top and blade body in one single clamping. This is possible with integrated Vollmer solutions such as the measuring probe that ensures all data related to the saw is measured automatically. This provides the end user with improved cycle times, high dimensional accuracy and automatic detection and grinding of tooth sequences including newly-replaced or missing teeth.

For the processing of band saw blades, Vollmer will be showing the Milan audience its exceptional CA 100 machine for sharpening the face and tops of band saw blade teeth. The cam-controlled CA 100 sharpens the complete profile of the band saw blade and it can be configured for wet or dry grinding. Renowned for its sturdy and compact central block based structure, high functionality and excellent cost-performance ratio, the robust design of the CA 100 guarantees an extremely long lifetime coupled with high precision and low maintenance requirement. Innovative technology prolongs the tool life of saws and boosts the productivity for any sawmill.

The CA 100 scores highly in day-to-day operation in terms of its simple, uncomplicated operation and excellent accessibility. The saw blades are easy to set up thanks to a straightforward tooth face adjusting mechanism on the outside of the machine. The tooth shape cams can be quickly exchanged with just a few simple adjustments, making it easy to grind different band saw blades.
