TaeguTec Turns In Success With New Chipbreaker

As part of its relentless R&D drive that will see over 30 new products launched throughout 2011, TaeguTec is proud to announce its first product launch for 2011 – the Turn Rush Series for semi heavy turning operations.

As part of the new Turn Rush Series, the HB Chipbreaker is the first product launch from the Turn Rush stable. Developed to reduce cutting forces when conducting medium to heavy turning, the new HB Chipbreaker is ideal for automotive, general engineering and heavy industrial applications. Available with a variety of insert grades, the new HB Chipbreaker is capable of machining a diverse range of materials that includes carbon steel, stainless and hardened steel, cast iron, aluminium, inconel and titanium.

The HB Chipbreaker introduces an innovative new cutter body design and insert geometry that offers steady and constant chip evacuation and prolonged tool life. The combination of the exclusive toolholder and insert drastically reduce the cutting load and improve surface finishes. Under extensive testing, the HB Chipbreaker has continually been proven to improve tool life by over 40% whilst reducing cutting loads by over 30% when compared to competitor products.

The remarkable benefits are credit to a number of elements. Firstly, the new double sided semi-heavy HB Chipbreaker insert has an optimised chipbreaker geometry developed specifically for heavy machining. Secondly, TaeguTec has developed a unique contact seat with a large convex that improves contact, positioning and rigidity between the insert and the seat. The insert seat is exchangeable with ISO toolholders and has a three dimensional geometry that increases the clamping forces. Added to this stability, the Turn Rush introduces an innovative new clamping structure that incorporates a hook lever design. This design improves insert changeovers whilst significantly increasing the clamping forces by clamping the insert in two directions.

The exciting new HB Chipbreaker Series has an optimal cutting range from 1 to 8mm depth of cut at feed rates up to 1mm/rev. Machining in this range, the HB Chipbreaker can significantly improve tool life, productivity and surface finishes on a wide variety of materials and applications. Available in SNMX and CNMX designations, the new inserts can be applied to five new tool holder formats that provide the end user with a series of cutting angles and geometries for a multitude of applications.
