TaeguTec Generates Positive Results from New Turning Grade

Designed for turning operations under a variety of cutting conditions, TaeguTec has now launched its new PC Positive Chipbreaker. As part of the renowned TaeguTec T-Turn range, the new insert designation has been developed for the steady and continuous control of swarf to improve tool life and machining stability.

The strenuous efforts and investment of the TaeguTec research and development team continues to pay dividends for customers with exceptional machining performance from this new single sided PC Chipbreaker insert. The new PC Chipbreaker incorporates an innovative new geometry design that enables it to be applied to general steel, stainless steel and cast iron machining.

The versatile new PC Chipbreaker grade is ideal for semi-finish to medium machining and can be applied to a variety of applications and materials. The geometry of the new insert incorporates a slightly waved cutting edge, a dimple design for low cutting forces and a wide chip groove for smooth and consistent machining. These attributes enable the new grade to deliver drastically improved tool life performance when compared to competitor products for the machining range from 0.5 to 3mm depth of cut. Operating at feed rates from 0.1 to 0.3mm/rev when machining at speeds in excess of 200m/min, the PC Chipbreaker comfortably machines carbon steels, stainless steels, high tensile cast iron, aluminium, inconel and hardened steels.

Ideal for automotive, aerospace and general engineering applications, the PC Chipbreaker is available as a PVD, CVD or Cermet coated grade for the demands of the various materials it is capable of machining. For the diverse turning requirements of the marketplace, TaeguTec is introducing three options - the 5, 7 or 11 degree positive inserts. The widely used 7 degree insert is available in seven different forms for the wide variety of tool holders currently in use in the marketplace. At present the 5 degree insert is available in the VBMT designation whilst the 11 degree inserts are available in CPMT and TPMT formats.
