TaeguTec Chases Productivity Gains with New Milling Cutter
29 June 2011
For cast iron and steel machining, TaeguTec has now launched its new Chase2Hepta series of face milling cutters and inserts. The new combination offers the end user a milling cutter with a 45 degree entry angle that is matched with economical inserts with 14 cutting corners.
The inserts for the extremely high performance Chase2Hepta offer dual usage. The inserts have been innovatively designed to work with a screw type cutter for steel machining as well as a wedge type cutter for cast iron processing. This development can reduce inventory and costs for the end user whilst delivering staggering INCREASE IN PRODUCTIVITY performance.
The new Chase2Hepta promotes efficient and smooth machining with its positive cutting edge geometry that reduces the cutting loads during rough and heavy machining operations. The performance levels combined with the interchangeable inserts make the Chase2Hepta a highly productive and economical solution for a diverse range of applications. The new series is ideally suited to rough machining of automotive components such as cylinder blocks, bed plates, manifolds, turbo chargers, connecting rods, knuckles and carriers.
The inserts are currently available in three different types with each type offering a range of TaeguTec grades that include the TT9080, TT6080, TT6800, TT7080, TT7800 and AS10. This diverse range of insert designations will cater for an extensive range of steel and cast iron applications in the automotive, aerospace, medical and general manufacturing sectors.
The Chase2Hepta is available as a wedge or screw type cutter with the wedge type clamping options available from 80 to 315mm diameter with options from 10 to 44 inserts, depending upon cutter diameter. The screw type cutter bodies are available from 63 to 250mm diameter with 5 to 25 insert seats on the cutter bodies.
Suitable for machining up to 5mm depth of cut on materials up to a hardness level of 225 Brinell, the Chase2Hepta can machine at very high feeds and speeds. Under extensive testing at TaeguTec’s R&D department, the Chase2Hepta outperforms competitor cutters by extending tool life from 50 to 100% with productivity improved by up to 20%.
