Schunk Extends TENDO Toolholder System

Schunk has now extended its program of slim hydraulic extension toolholders with the introduction of a new 6mm shank diameter for the renowned TENDO SVL series. Recently launched at EMO 2011 the high precision fine balanced extensions do not need peripheral equipment, just an Allen Key for tool changeovers.

Independent of the spindle interface, the TENDO SVL transforms almost every precision toolholder into a flexible tool that is perfect for use in confined spaces. The run-out accuracy, excellent vibration damping and the internal coolant supply provide for excellent machining results on the workpiece whilst improving tool life.

The clamping screw of the extension is radially actuated from the side. This simplifies tool changeovers and enables tool changing to be conducted in the work envelope if necessary. The high torque of the TENDO-SVL ensures the tool can be securely clamped for drilling, reaming and finish milling operations.

The new TENDO-SVL can in many instances replace the need for expensive special tooling as it can be equipped with various standard tools. In addition to the established extensions with L1 length dimensions of 150 and 200mm with clamping diameters of 12 and 20mm, mountings with an L1 length of 150mm and clamping diameters of 6, 8, 10 and 16mm are now available. This enables tools to be directly clamped or used with intermediate sleeves.
