Now available from Floyd Automatic Tooling of Baldock is the new CrazyDrill Twicenter drill, a center drill and chamfer tool all in one cutter. This innovative new range of cutting tools from Swiss manufacturer Mikron Tool can perform the duties of two tools in one step with its radical new design.
Giving the benefits of two tools in one, the new CrazyDrill Twicenter has a 130 degree tip angle that favours free chip flow into the flutes whilst reducing pressure on the tip. This significantly enhances tool life and reduces the need for tooling changes whilst reducing the cost of tooling inventory. The chip flow promoting tip design combined with a short web and through tool coolant supply guarantees optimal performance, tool life and surface finish with limited penetration force upon the tip of the tool.
The new CrazyDrill Twicenter is available with a 60 or 90 degree chamfer with 130 degree tip angle or alternately with an 120 degree combined tip and chamfer angle. The advantages of this new cutting tool are many with centering and chamfering completed in one step with a remarkably high process reliability credit to the robust tip angle.
The 60, 90 and 120 degree Twicenter cutters are available in 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10mm diameters with an overall tool length ranging from 40 to 80mm. The flexibility of the Twicenter makes it suitable for machining anything from copper and aluminium to cast iron, alloy steels and titanium alloys at anything from 40 to 150m/min cutting speed. The Twicenter series of tools are all coated to promote long tool life and consistently reliable performance.
