Kerf Cuts a Winning Line at MACH 2012

ON stand 4520 at MACH 2012, Kerf Developments will be demonstrating why it is the market leading supplier of oxy-fuel cutting, high density plasma cutting and waterjet cutting equipment. The Lancashire based manufacturer will be using MACH as a platform to promote its exciting new generation RUR profile cutting machine combined with Kaliburn “ultrasharp” cutting technology.

Designed and manufactured for customers with a high production demand, the RUR incorporates a rigid frame design that is ultrasonically stress relieved and manufactured to highly accurate tolerances to provide remarkable performance for the end user.

The RUR range is ideal for conventional and high density plasma and can be configured with combined plasma and oxy-fuel heads to suit the various demands of the marketplace. Additionally, customers can configure machine lengths and widths to allow for large plate sizes or to provide the capability to cut and load/unload plates simultaneously in order to minimise machine downtime. With recent applications requiring machine beds up to 90m x 15m, Kerf can provide a bespoke solution for anything from a small machine shop or fabricator to highly productive ship yards and heavy industry applications.

Complementing the RUR 2500P at MACH will be the innovative new Kaliburn Series of plasma cutting and marking machines. The Kaliburn Spirit 275a at MACH is part of a series of new plasma cutting systems that offer power outputs to meet specific customer needs.

The Spirit range has a host of new innovations that include the exciting new “ultrasharp” technology. This new feature controls the plasma arc motion to improve hole and edge quality, part accuracy and surface edge finish.

The “ultrasharp” technology is intuitively controlled by the Burny CNC control that is unique to Kerf Developments and is also standard on the RUR Series. The Burny control fully automates the process to provide remarkable ease of use for the customer. To simplify operation, the Burny CNC utilises Inova arc voltage control and advanced command messaging to minimise divots and drag when processing the material.

Additionally, the Burny control system includes nesting software that assigns tailored lead-ins and lead-outs for each individual component to improve part quality. It automatically adjusts gas pressure, plasma amperage and height control by continually calibrating the NC toolpath to achieve a balance between pierce holds, feed rates and advance-off movements. By combining the Kaliburn Spirit system with the Burny CNC controller, customers can achieve remarkable hole quality with a powerful plasma supply that produces consistent quality on all sides of the part.
Supporting the Kaliburn and RUR systems at MACH, Kerf Developments will be keen to demonstrate its all encompassing service that includes bespoke or standard machine supply, training, servicing, configuration, consumables and complete support packages.
