GrindTec 2012: Three New Sharpening Machines From Vollmer
3 February 2012
Vollmer, the specialist in grinding and eroding machines will be giving its exhibition premiere to three new machine innovations at the GrindTec 2012 trade fair in Augsburg in March. At the event, the Vollmer CB 200, CM 300 and CMF 300 machines on show will be demonstrating the company's expertise in grinding carbide-tipped bandsaws and circular saws for the metal industry. In addition, Vollmer is using stand 1019 in Hall 1 to showcase other grinding and eroding machines, as well as a comprehensive service package for maintenance, training and financing.
Loroch, a subsidiary of the Vollmer Group, is introducing its K850 HSS grinding machine solution at the show.
The trio of the CB 200, CM 300 and CMF 300 are perfectly suited for efficient metal machining and are one of the technological highlights that the technology and service provider is going to put on display between the 14th and 17th of March 2012.
The CB 200 can be used to sharpen the tooth faces and tooth tops of carbide-tipped bandsaw blades for the processing of aluminium, plastic, steel or cast iron in a more precise manner. The CB 400’s 'little' brother boasts an attractive price-performance ratio and is ideally suited for the production of carbide bandsaws, which are widely used in the construction and metal-processing industries.
Vollmer will also be introducing the CM 300 and the CMF 300. These are two fully-automatic sharpening machines that can be used to sharpen carbide-tipped circular saw blades up to a diameter of 1440mm. With nine CNC-controlled axes, the CM 300 can machine cutting edges at tooth faces and tops in one setup and the CMF 300 can do the same for tooth sides. Saw manufacturers can use the new Vollmer sharpening machines, with their respective handling systems and loading palettes in automatic, round-the-clock operations.
Vollmer’s appearance at the GrindTec trade fair will be completed by various sharpening and eroding machines such as the QXD 200 that can measure, sharpen, erode and polish PCD tools (polycrystalline diamond) in a single clamping operation. With the ExLevel software, the QXD 200 can simulate the production process of PCD drilling tools three dimensionally. It can then use a combination process to measure, erode, grind and polish them. An automatic polishing process for PCD milling tools has also been integrated into this general-purpose machine. It can be used to automatically erode and polish face-milling cutters, groove cutters, drill and groove milling cutters and other metal-cutting tools in large batches.
Additionally, Loroch, Vollmer’s Mörlenbach-based subsidiary completes the display with its K850, a fully automatic grinding machine solution for CBN abrasive grinding (cubic crystalline boron nitride). It can use its four CNC-controlled movement axes to sharpen, re-tooth and automatically chamfer HSS circular metal saws.
GrindTec’s technological highlights also include Vollmer’s comprehensive package of services that cover everything from consultation, training and financing to the maintenance and servicing of all of its sharpening and eroding machines.
“It’s not just our new machines and reliable services that make it worth a visit to our GrindTec stall this year. Our restyled appearance at the trade fair is another reason to make the trip”, says Dr Stefan Brand, CEO of the Vollmer Group. “An open and transparent concept takes our guests on a tour of all the business sectors in the Vollmer world and our collection of videos use moving pictures and various examples to show and tell them everything they need to know about our portfolio of technologies and services.”
